About Lana...
I was born in a farmhouse in South Dakota during a snowstorm that
was so bad that my dad had to deliver the doctor to the house via horse and sled. It was February 19, 1943, and I joined two
brothers. I lived in South Dakota until I was two and one half years old when my family moved to a small town in Northern
Idaho. I lived in St. Maries, Idaho, until I graduated from high school in 1961. I was married the first time
in 1964 and had three children as a result of that marriage. I was divorced in 1979 with three children to raise and
no job substantial enough to support the family. I went back to school and finished a degree in English and Education
in 1982 and went to work teaching English in Middleton, Idaho. In the meantime, I had met my future husband, Warren.
I finally got him to marry me in April of 1985; and when school was out that spring, the kids and I joined Warren in Lancaster,
CA. I began teaching in the Antelope Valley High School District the fall of 1985. I taught at Palmdale High for
two years and then moved to Quartz Hill High where all three kids were students. I earned an MA in Curriculum Development
in 1987. I continued teaching at Quartz Hill for thirteen years. My last five years of teaching were spent at Desert
Winds Continuation School which is a school for students at risk of not graduating from high school.
In June of 2005, I retired from teaching. My husband, Warren, and our pets all moved back to Idaho. We had a house
built in Meridian,Idaho during the winter of 2005. We live close to our daughter, Kirsten, and her husband, Lynn and their
baby girl, Avery. It is the first time in several years that we have lived this close to family and it is wonderful.
I became a grandmother for the first time on July 3, 2005, when Shannon and her
husband, Adi, had a baby boy. I became a grandmother for the second time on November 24, 2005, when Kirsten and Lynn had
a baby girl. Shannon and Adi had a second boy in January 2007.
I
am enjoying having time to do a lot of reading. I have joined a Red Hat group here that I enjoy doing things with. Boise
has many playhouses with opportunities to see plays or go to concerts.
And, best of all, I have a granddaughter here to spend time with.
